What is Putting Evidence into Practice?
Evidence-based practice involves applying evidence to clinical and policy decision making. Critical appraisal provides the tools to assess the quality of evidence in the medical literature and to determine the risks and benefits of different management strategies. Through this trans-disciplinary workshop you will work through relevant examples in order to develop skills in searching for and identifying appropriate evidence, critically appraising the evidence, and applying the evidence to your area of expertise. |

Work Shop Objectives
By working through relevant examples to develop skills in searching for and identifying appropriate evidence:
1) Learn skills in critical appraisal and methods for knowledge synthesis
2) Integrate evidence into decision making
3) Network with international leaders in evidence-based practice
4) Discover new approaches to teaching evidence-based practice |

Workshop Format
This three-day workshop involves a combination of plenaries, small group sessions lead by experts in their topic area, and a fun, interactive session reinforcing key concepts learned during the workshop:
Small Group Sessions
There will be two facilitators and a librarian leading each small group. Over the three days, there are a total of six 2-hour sessions in the small group of your choice, one of the sessions will be conducted in the experiential lab. Three plenaries presented by speakers specializing in Evidence-based Medicine and a panel discussion

Workshop Participants
Whether you are interested in learning more about knowledge synthesis or enhancing your critical appraisal skills, you will benefit from the expertise of your group’s facilitators and librarian. Small groups will focus on different methods for knowledge synthesis, and different levels and topics of critical appraisal.
